The Olympiaregion Seefeld is located on a beautiful plateau nestled at the heart of the Alps. A special piece of earth, which can offer year-round attractions for all tastes. Here are 12 reasons why you should take a trip to 1200 m in the Olympiaregion.
1. Take a break at any time of year
Spring, summer, autumn and winter. Mother Nature has given us four lovely and very different seasons. Which is your favourite? All four seasons offer plenty to do in the Olympiaregion. Our promise: you won’t be bored at any time of year!
2. Cross-country ski on the trails that the champions use
The Olympiaregion Seefeld has been known for ages for its cross-country skiing. And for a good reason: our area offers the best conditions and perfectly-prepared tracks. Winter enthusiasts will enjoy the impressive 271 km of trails.
NB. The Olympiaregion Seefeld is hosting the Nordic Ski World Championships in 2019. Thanks to our optimal position and altitude as well as the clever concept of ‘snow farming’ we can make an early start to the cross-country season and still guarantee perfect conditions.
3. Wonderful walks for every level!
The Indians knew that walking was a relaxing way to meditate. The Olympiaregion Seefeld offers plenty of hiking trails, whether you would prefer to take it easy and enjoy nature or to conquer one of the peaks. The area has around 650 km of well-signposted walking, mountain and climbing routes. There are free themed and activity walks for both big and small, demanding trips to the top of the mountains and lovely strolls on wide flat trails for families.
4. Stroll through the village, shop and enjoy delicious food
The Seefeld pedestrian area is the oldest one in the Tyrol. Both the many modern and the traditional shops and boutiques are an invitation to stroll and shop. The flat trails through the village are accessible and allow hours of wandering through this lovely village. The taste buds aren’t forgotten either: a number of the hotels in the area are known for their award-winning cuisine. Enjoy a special treat and spoil yourself. Mmmmm!
5. Take a vertical break: an Eldorado for climbers
Climbing – or ‘Kraxln’, as the Tyroleans say – has developed into a mainstream sport. No surprise in that – it’s an exciting hobby which offers plenty of different experiences. The sport places demands on the body, the mind and the nerves. Scharnitz and Leutasch are true paradises for every enthusiast. On offer are simple family climbs, sport climbing of all grades and alpine rock climbing. Experienced climbers will enjoy the Chinesische Mauer area, with 200 routes up to grade 8.
6. Enjoy the Tyrolean welcome
Guests from all around the world have been making a trip to the beautiful Tyrol since the 19th century. There’s a good reason for that: as well as the idyllic mountain scenery, the tasty food and the wealth of tradition, we take our welcome very seriously. We value our guests and they can feel that. Whether up the mountain or down in the valley you’ll be greeted with a hearty ‘Griaß enk!’ and we are always ready to lend a hand when needed. ‘Irgendwie geht’s alleweil’ (‘somehow it will work out’) and ‘Passt schon!’ (‘no worries’) are typical Tyrolean watchwords. Meaning that there should be problems, we’ll find a solution!
7. Cycle off into the distance: mountain biking and E-bikes in summer
Off into the wild blue yonder! Mountain biking is a great sport. In the saddle, you are a lot quicker than on foot and a tiring descent can turn into a fun downhill trip over sticks and stones. That’s one of the reasons that so many mountain enthusiasts are taking to biking.
Thanks to the rapid development of E-bikes, the sport isn’t the sole preserve of the fittest any more. Those who would rather can use the engine to help. Rent an E-bike out and discover the Karwendel mountains! A great idea for a family day out. There are around 570 km of trails for mountain bikers, E-bikers and cyclists to discover.
8. Discover the wide variety of events
The calendar of the Olympiaregion is chock-full of events in summer and winter, with something of interest to those looking for sport, culture or cuisine. Take a look at our Event Calender.
