Seefeld and soccer: A really good combination
The Olympiaregion Seefeld is known worldwide for its excellent training conditions for Nordic sports. But the region can do much more than that: even in summer, athletes find the best conditions here. Like the footballers, for example. Where the world champions skied on the cross-country ski trails in winter, the world’s best football players now train on the grass. They have many good reasons for a summer training camp in Seefeld. The German Football Association is also aware of this and will be hosting the Germany national football team’s training camp in Seefeld in the summer of 2020.
Play at the highest level – that is more than just a saying for us. After all, the plateau is located at 1,200 m and thus has the ideal altitude for a training. The football fields in Seefeld, Scharnitz and Leutasch are embedded in the impressive mountain world of the Karwendel and the Wetterstein mountains. The athletes find their focus in the tranquillity of nature and can concentrate on the upcoming seasons.
The numerous wellness facilities in the region ensure optimal regeneration after training. It is not without reason that the region has the highest density of wellness facilities in the Alpine region.
The Olympiaregion is also easy and quick to reach. Wether by car, train or bus, the region is easily accessible from all directions.
Build for the future
Seefeld has already hosted the Nordic disciplines of the Olympic Games three times – in 1964, 1976 and 2012 (Youth Games). Another major Nordic event and highlight took place in 2019: The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019. The infrastructure in Seefeld was expanded in the course of the WSC. However, they were not only build for winter, but for the future. Thus, the summer facilities also benefit from the investments. The WSC Arena is thus used sustainably and the region is the top location for top-level sports at all times of the year. The football pitches in Seefeld are in a top condition and allow games and training sessions on perfectly maintained natural grass on the two football pitches and the additional small pitch.
The football pitch in Scharnitz was newly build during the construction of the new bypass and now offers a larger pitch and a new clubhouse.
Seefeld offers 2 football pitches and an additional small pitch. They all lie in the impressive nature of the region. Piece, quiet and relaxation included.
Training camp: Professional teams on the plateau
Many well-known football teams have known for years that Seefeld is the perfect region for a training camp. For example, the RB Leipzig, whose team once again came to Seefeld to train for the coming season this year. Dynamo Kiev, Manchester City, the Austrian National Team and many other professional teams also prepared their teams in Seefeld. Amateur teams also like to come to the region for a training camp.
Euro 2020: DFB holds training camp in Seefeld
The German Football Association also knows that Seefeld offers optimal training conditions and it is a very special honour for us to welcome the German national team to Seefeld in the summer of 2020. The team will prepare for the European Championships here and train intensively. National coach Joachim Löw knows: “The training camp is an important key to a successful tournament. The conditions in Seefeld and the great experience of our hosts convinced me absolutely. The conditions to train concentrated and goal-oriented are very good. Overall, we will feel very comfortable there, I am quite sure of that. That’s a good basis.”
“We are looking forward to intensive weeks in Tyrol”
Oliver Bierhoff, director of the national teams and academy, also says: “We know that many teams have prepared very well in Seefeld. We were also convinced by the overall concept of short distances, a hotel in which we will regenerate well and the best training conditions. Innsbruck airport is only 25 minutes away and the players can ride their bikes to the training grounds. Our hosts are very competent and passionate about their work, which can be felt. Therefore, we are looking forward to these intensive weeks in Tyrol”.
