Winter activities: The ultimate guide for your winter adventure

14. February 2020

The cold season holds thousands of adventures – whether in the mountains, in the snow or far away from the slopes, we have a great program with many winter activities. To make sure you find the right one for you from the wide range of winter adventures (with or without a guest card), we have the ultimate guide for you.

Curling Instruction

This is the right activity for you if you:

… want to learn a real Seefeld tradition

… are pretty good in bowling, too

… are looking for a cool winter sport without sweating, but a lot of fun in with the group

The biggest advantage of curling is obvious: you don’t have to be good at it, at least not for the time being. This sport will probably not make you sweat either. “Eisstockschießen” is a special form of curling in the Alps. It is not a physically demanding exercise, but it is a very fun and sociable activity for groups and families. In the last centuries this alpine curling has quite rightly become the favourite sport of many villagers during long winters when the ice on the lakes was frozen. The aim is to “place” the ice sticks as close as possible to the tee. How to do this exactly, what the lines in the ice are for and which team wins, you will learn during the introduction to curling in Seefeld. First the teachers will explain the rules, then two teams are formed and a couple of games are played. And all this in a beautiful setting right next to the Seekirchl.

The introduction to curling takes place on Tuesdays. Costs: The introduction is free of charge, the stick and track rental (8€ p.p.) is to pay on site.

Beer tasting & beer brewing lessons

This is the right activity for you if you:

… like really delicious beer & always wanted to know how the “liquid gold” is actually made

… you want to discover the secrets of the brewery cellar

The Augustinian monks started brewing beer in the Klosterbäu in Seefeld in the 16th century already. This tradition has been preserved until today and the brewery was even awarded as the best microbrewery in Austria. So after more than 500 years, many secrets and stories have been collected in the brewing cellar, of which the master brewer might tell you a few. During the brewing lesson you can not only learn more about the brewing process itself, but also taste special unique items such as “Champagne Beer” or special light beers. If you like, you can also have dinner in the brewing cellar afterwards and enjoy various barbecue and vegetable highlights (early reservation recommended).

The Beer tasting & beer brewing lessons take place every Wednesday. Costs with guest card: 5€. Costs without guest card: 15€.

Winter walk with Alpacas

This is the right activity for you if you:

… want to get to know the fluffy, cuddly and lovely alpacas up close and personal

… need cool content for Instagram

Everybody just likes them (Yes, everybody! Promise.). The fluffy alpacas are so adorable that you just have to love them. This winter experience is also ideal for children and all those who are otherwise rather afraid of animals. With their good-natured character and soft, warm wool, they have a relaxing effect on everyone who goes for a walk with them. After you have taken the animals out of the stable, you can go for a walk together through the winter forest. The walk takes around one hour and is around 2 kilometres long. Afterwards mulled wine and punch are waiting in the stable. For the people of course, not the alpacas. By the way, this experience is also an Instagram self-runner. A photo with the cool “teddy bears” will definitely get you lots of likes and comments.

The Winter Walks with Alpacas take place on Fridays and Saturdays. Costs with guest card: 5€. Costs without guest card: 24€. We strongly recommend that you book this popular experience early.

Snow Tubing

This is the right activity for you if you:

… are not afraid of speed

… are always found at the slides in the swimming pool

… are looking for an activity that will really make you laugh

The Snow Tubing at the Birkenlift in Seefeld certainly raises the adrenaline level. You slide down the Snow Tubing track in snow tubes, i.e. big rubber tyres. The track is open daily between 13:30 and 16:30 in winter. Groups can (by prior reservation) do Snow Tubing evenings in the floodlight. Brightly illuminated, the Snow Tubing at night will be a very special winter experience!

The Snow Tubing takes place on Mondays. Costs with guest card: free of charge. Costs without guest card: 15€.

Forest bathing in Seefeld: Shinrin Yoku

This is the right activity for you if you:

come from the big city and the parks and green spaces have become too small for you

… spend too much time in the office & long for nature

… want to try another relaxation program than going to the Spa

The trend with the extraordinary name “Shinrin Yoku” originally comes from Japan and is now finding its fans in Europe. Which at first sounds a bit strange (Forest bathing? Like, bathing in the forest, or what? Do you need a bikini for it?) is actually an especially relaxing experience. Because the forest radiates a calmness which is transferred to us people. NatureCoach Verena Hiltpolt knows this and shows you nature from a touching side.

The Forest Bathing takes place on Wednesday. Costs with guest card: free of charge. Costs without guest card: 15€.

That was not all: more winter activities

There are a few more winter experiences waiting for you: for example a snowshoe hike for beginners and for advanced hikers, a romantic torchlight hike and a walk through the winterly forest for those who like to be outside. Families with children and all animal lovers can visit the farm Zottlhof with the sweet highland cattle. If you follow biathlon events on TV, you may try it yourself at the biathlon taster lesson. You can learn more about Seefeld and its history on a historical winter walk. And finally, on Saturdays you can enjoy a free ascent and descent on the chairlift Kreithlift (for free or at a reduced price) and enjoy the panorama.

You can find an overview of all winter activities on all different weekdays here.

Here’s how it works: Sign up for the experiences

You can participate in our winter adventures with or without a guest card (the only exception is the biathlon taster lesson). For (almost) all experiences you can register until the day before as long as there are still places available. The exact registration times can be found at the respective experiences. You can easily register in our online shop, in one of our information offices or at your accommodation.
