Spring tips: The most beautiful places to go in spring

7. April 2021

Colourful flower meadows, lots of sunshine and mild temperatures: spring is finally here! Where can you best enjoy the warm spring sun? On which paths can you already start the hiking season? And where to find the most beautiful crocus and flower meadows? We have summarised the best spring tips for you!

Start into the hiking season: walk around the Gschwandtkopf

Finally, the hiking season is starting again! While there is still (too much) snow further up, you can already unpack your hiking boots down on the plateau. Our tip for the first hike of the year: the walk around the Gschwandtkopf. It leads past Seefeld, Mösern and Reith – and thus over many flower meadows and through the forest where the birds twitter loudly and happily. A real insider tip for spring!

Spring around lake Wildsee

We can’t mention it often enough: The Wildsee is simply a favourite place! In spring, you get a lot of sunshine on a walk around the lake, the squirrels are already up and active again and nature is really blossoming in the Reither Moor. An absolute must for families in spring!

Picnic at lake Möserer See

The same can be said for lake Möserer See – it is worth a visit at any time of year. Tip: In spring you can have a beautiful picnic on the jetty or on the shore of the lake and enjoy especially many rays of sunshine.

Sunset views at the Ropferstub’m

We love the fact that the days are finally longer again and you can still catch the sun after work! In the evening and at the weekend, the Ropferstub’m near Mösern-Buchen is a real dream spot: thanks to its location at over 1,000 m above sea level and the view to the west, you can still catch the very last rays of sun here. And all that with a fantastic view of the mountain Hohe Munde and the Inntal Valley. At the weekend, the Ropferstub’m offers take-away.

Soak up the sun in Reith

Reith is located on the southern edge of the high plateau and thus has an extra sunny location. The snow disappears here earlier than in the other villages and makes room for spacious, green meadows full of flowers and bees. No matter where you are in Reith – it’s the perfect place in spring! Our recommendation: on a hike along the Panoramic Path to the Kaiserstand you can experience lots of sun, fresh air and the best views.

Along the river Leutascher Ache

After a long winter, you want to recharge your batteries with vitamin D all day long! You can do that on a walk along the Leutascher Ache. The path is also great for families – take a lunch with you so that you don’t run out of energy at the adventure playground.

Spring hiking in the Gaistal valley

In late spring, when the days are finally longer and the sun is higher, the Gaistal is the place to be. Tip: take your own snack until the huts are open again. Or simply stop by at one of the restaurants in Leutasch that offer  take-away afterwards.

Spring messengers: Crocuses and flower meadows

The first signs of the end of winter are the crocuses. In purple and white colors, they pop out of the ground within a very short time – and make great photo motifs. The crocus meadows in Leutasch (near the church St. Magdalena), in Unterleutasch and in Reith (on the meadow next to the golf course Seefeld-Wildmoos) are particularly beautiful. When the crocuses are gone and have made room for the full variety of flowers, the meadows in Mösern are particularly spectacular.
